What to look for in a digital forensics provider

Digital forensics companies are not the same.  Some are cheaper than others, and there's usually a very good reason: some are more questionable than others.

Some digital forensics companies are practitioners working from domestic premises without the levels of security and compliance you would expect from someone handling important and sensitive evidence.  There are firms which can't provide evidence that they follow strict processes and procedures and have adequate security in place.  Some will claim to have quality standard accreditations in place, but will they let you see evidence that they have been regularly audited?  Are they vetted and visited regularly by some of the country's most high-profile law enforcement agencies?
