Public Sector Case Study - Trading Standards (Mis-labelling)
CCL-Forensics was contacted by a Trading Standards body which was carrying out an operation into concerns over mis-labelling at a food production plant.
The investigation centred on claims made about the source of the food which was being processed - in particular, whether it was organic or not.
CCL-Forensics attended the site as part of the investigation and provided assistance on the seizing and forensic imaging of computers. These computers contained details of goods in and out of the factory as well as information about the use of production and packaging lines. The data enabled the investigators to ascertain how products were being labelled, and whether there was any deliberate attempt to defraud the public.
CCL-Forensics also carried out processing of the data, before presenting it back to the Trading Standards team for review.
