Mobile Phone Forensics
Mobile phones can contain a wealth of evidence which can be vital in internal investigations within public sector bodies.
Like computers, mobile phones can contain data which can show how the device has been used - or misused. Even if the data has been deleted, there is still the possibility that forensic analysis can retrieve deleted evidence. This also includes SIM cards and memory cards.
In investigations where communication between two individuals is relevant, a forensic analysis of the device can yield valuable evidence. This can range from simple data including:
- Dialled / received / missed calls
- Phonebook entries
- SIM card details
- Text messages (incoming and outgoing)
- Pictures / videos etc.
- Calendar / organiser entries.
But as mobile phones become ever more sophisticated, they can also hold a large amount of additional evidence, which may be vital in a disciplinary or tribunal. Forensic analysis of smartphones can yield:
- Social networking history
- Internet history
- GPS data (details of where the phone has been)
- Data from installed "apps"...
... and other potentially key evidence which could play an important part in your investigation.
CCL-Forensics also appreciates the heightened need to ensure public money is spent wisely, and will work closely with the public sector organisation to ensure that a detailed, cost-effective scope is produced. All work is undertaken on a fixed-scope, fixed-price basis so costs cannot escalate.
